Western towels have taken over that function, but these cloths used to be an important
part of daily life for Japanese people. They were used for a wide range of tasks ? for as
a head covering(bandanna) [eg:1], a scarf [eg:2], table cloth [eg:3],
wiping sweat, while in the bath and so on. Another distinctive feature is their abundant
motifs. Figuring out the meaning behind them is part of the fun. Pattern:enginasu
